Our dogs
Our dogs live together with us & our son into our home and are part of the family.
If you're going through the dogs pages, you'll see some of our younger dogs, who are placed with friends (foster parents). The only idea behind this all, is that we can't make enough time for all our Amstaffs. Therefore, we've surched for good homes for our dogs, where they can have lots of attention and fun. Our gratitude goes to these people, who are doing a wonderful job, just by keeping and loving them. From time to time, we're also surching for loving homes for our retired dogs. You want to know more? Please contact us.
All our dogs we breed with, are tested for hip-dysplasia, are DNA-registered and approved to breed with by St-Hubertus. In addition, we're testing elbowdysplasia & ataxia to guarantee healthy dogs.
Puppies
Puppies are born into our house. They grow up between our other adult dogs, who give them the perfect and indispensable education, which they take along the rest of their further life. All puppies stay with us till the age of 8 weeks. At the age of 5 weeks, they all are used to eat dry food. To provide a stable Amstaff, we let the puppies hear all kinds of strange noises, by playing special dog-cd's.
The pups are several times wormed, were vaccinated at the age of 6 weeks, have a European Pasport (health-certification), FCI-pedigree and are all sold with contract.

Cerebellar ataxia
Cerebellar ataxia, bether known as Ataxia, is a neurological disease. The first signs of the disease usually appear between ages 3 and 5 years for affected dogs. Symptoms include loss of balance, coordination and hard fall during head shaking. When these dogs are no longer able to walk, only with repeated trial and error, the owners usually make the difficult choice to euthanize their dog.
Cerebellar ataxia is inherited as an autosomal recessive trait. This means that the dog gets 2 defective copies (one from each parent) of the mutated gene.
It is extremely important to take into account the official results of the parents, if you go for a puppy.
If both parents are free of Ataxia, you have nothing to fear.
If one of both parents are carriers, they may never develop the disease, only it is possible that they carry the gene in their DNA. Again, your puppy will never develop the disease.
Be on alert, if both parents are carriers! Your puppy can be affected in this case and develop the disease later in life!
An affected dog should be excluded anyway for breeding.
Hip Dysplasia The HD-examination is required for all American Staffordshire Terriers who are used for breeding since 1 July 2008.
Minimum age for HD-examination is 12 months.
Dogs with HD/A and HD/B–result may be used for breeding.
Dogs with HD/C may be used provided they are accompanied by a dog with HD/A of HD/B-result.
Dogs with HD/D en HD/E-result are prohibited from breeding.
Hip Dysplasia (HD) is not a disease but a genetic predisposition. Yet we must not forget that 30% play with heredity. The other 70% are external influences:
weight,
composition of the diet,
physical strain
Pedigrees
All our dogs have a FCI-pedigree. Also our puppies are all in possesion of a FCI-pedigree, published by KMSH (www.kmsh.be).
The application of the pedigrees for the puppies is requested after litter- & chipcontrol by St-Hubertus. The pedigrees will be send after a few months to the breeder. I will send, in turn, the pedigree to the new owners by registered mail.
Pedigree for the puppies can only be obtained if:
•Both parents have FCI-pedigree. •DNA from both parents have to be known and also DNA of at least 1 puppy. •HD result of parents need to be known.
•Certificate "admission LOSH-breeding" is needed from both parents, if born after 1.1.2008.
DNA registration
All of our dogs are DNA registered. These DNA procedure is compulsory for all litters from 01/01/2009. There is a random pup from each litter chosen by a representative of St-Hubert. DNA is taken from a mouth swab. This steel is controlled by the lab Progenus that the genetic relationship between puppy and parents must confirm before the puppies can be provided with a pedigree. Without DNA analysis, no pedigrees are issued.
Admission LOSH breeding
All breeding animales need to have the certificate 'Admission LOSH-breeding'. This means each dog have to gain at least a "Good" on exposition. Without this qualification, there can not be delivered a pedigree by St-Hubertus.
This regulation apply to all dogs born from 01-01-2008.
